If the pet food contamination makes it in to feed for chickens, pigs, and beef, how will it effect our health?

Melamine was the contaminant that killed dozens of pets across America, and now it has been found in the animal feed that chickens, pigs, and beef cattle eat. Not a lot, but some. How will it effect us, if at all? Should we take up vegetarianism until this matter is cleared up? And do you think this is one of those problems that the government knew the dangerous extent of, but never told for fear of causing a panic or hurting business?

Guinea pig?

Right now I have a guinea pig a rabbit, and a rat and they are all good friends so I get them out to play with each other all the time. They are all inside pets inside my bedroom, my rabbit is a mini rex and his cage is humongeous, but my guinea pig has a cage that is pretty small and even though i get him out all the time i feel bad for him. Right now my family is tight on money and there is no way my mom is going to get him a new big expensive cage like she go tmy rabbit and don’t suggest building one b/c i don’t have the time or anything so thats pretty much out of the question, i want maybe a link to a website where i could order a cheep cage that was pretty big, preferably like a common pet store like petsmart or something. and how old is your guinea pig? this is the third one i’ve ever had and he is almost 3, the other two died at about the age of 6. and what does yours look like?

best pets for lvl 13 orc hunter?

I will be the one looking after it as I always have with pets. I had a rabbit which he bought me for Christmas and I did everything for her. I once asked him to feed her while i was away overnight and I came home and she didn’t even have any water! She went missing over a month ago so I already have everything for a guinea pig. I understand a parent saying no to their child for a pet, but can a husband say no to his wife about a pet?

My sister is very interested in a small monkey. We found one, but are unsure if we can proceed because we aren’t sure if it’s legal or not. Will we need a licence?

How do I introduce my two pets of different species to one another?

I have an approximately 1 yr. old guinea pig who is currently living with me now and sometime before Christmas, I’m going to be getting my 1 yr. old purebred Australian terrier dog back from my parents. What is the best way to introduce the 2 animals to one another so that they will have the highest chance of getting along?

I might get a guinea pig and am starting to think about what to name it. I like names that are short, simple, and cute of course. I think Mia for a girl is nice. Oh yeah im not sure if im gona get a boy or a girl yet, so i want ideas for both genders. Thanks! =D

How can I contact someone to take a look at the horrible condition animals are living in at a pet store?

Everytime I walk in to the pet store, there’s a ton of puppies towards the back of the store. Theres hardly enough room for them to run around and the play pen is never clean. There’s people that have complained about sick puppies and sick kittens and have contacted the owner about the vet bills but she refuses to pay for them. The guinea pigs and rabbits live in one cage and I read somewhere that they aren’t supposed to because the rabbits could kick the guinea pigs in the face or something. The breeding rabbits look so miserable and the cats lie on the floor like they are dead. I feel so bad and everytime I walk in there I hold the puppies and play with the cats even though they might be sick. The veterinarian office is connected to the pet store and one of the vets gives the owner of the pet store medicine so she could give it to people that complain about the pets being sick. illegal? probably.
We took our dog to that same vet about a year ago, before we knew any of this and the vet gave her a shot, but the next day we noticed that she had a lump in that same exact spot where they gave her the shot. It breaks my heart to see the animals so miserable; I live in California about 40 min. north of LA. Does anyone know someone I can contact?

Do Guinea pigs make good apartment pets?

me and my fiancee want an apartment pet (we have tons of experience with pets at our parents homes we grew up with/still have there 7 cats (all strays 3 hand reared by me and my fiancee because they were found at just a few days old), 4 dogs, rabbits, hamsters and fish. we are in our own place (have been for 3years) but we cant stand not having pets any longer we love animals and we feel a house isnt a home without one. we cant get a cat right now (thats what we would really want) but ive been doing a lot of research on guinea pigs (i always do tons of research before getting a new pet) but now i want to hear from owners. do they really make good apartment pets? do they really curl up on your lap for a while? do they poo everywhere? (ive heard they are quite good at giving signs that they want to go back to their cage to pee/poo) do they bite through wires like hamsters do (i could never leave my hamster for a second or he’d be half way through a wire) i want a pet that does not do this (as much, a little can be expected)
