My new guinea pigs won’t eat things other than hay, pellets, and “shop-bought treats”?

Uh huh.
I know I’m not supposed to give them shop-bought treats, but it’s the only thing that they’d eat besides hay and pellets, and I don’t want them to starve!
They won’t eat any greens. I offered them an apple, even. They sniffed it and ran away into their pigloo. I offered them celery and carrots, same thing. *sniff sniff… AHHHHH!!!*
We’re going to buy veggies soon, so we’d have more variety, but I’m afraid that they won’t eat that either.
They refuse to eat ANYTHING other than water, hay, pellets, and treats. Not the small ones, but the ones that they’re supposed to chew for what, a month before it runs out?

They have a BIG c&c cage with some chewing things, two hiding places, a “hay” area, and we’re going to get more than that soon. AK.A. Cozy Cavies so they can survive the cold ;)
But still, they won’t eat anything. I just got them on Tuesday Night.
Why aren’t they eating the right foods?

Help with my new guinea pigs?

I just got two young guinea pigs (they will be 5 weeks tomorrow). They are brother and sister. I am going to take them to the vet soon and hopefully get the boy fixed.. I made them a brand new C&C cage with a second level (which is basically their kitchen). So, I have a few questions:

1) They are still very shy towards me. Every time I approach their cage, they run and hide. I try to be as slow and calm as possible and try to talk with them, but they still run and hide. I also have tried feeding them by hand but they are still skittish.. What else can I do to make them more comfortable with me?

2) I made a ramp to the second level. I have seen the boy go up and down the ramp fine to get his food but the girl is very reluctant to. I dunno if its because I am in the room or if she doesn’t like the ramp. Its covered with a fleece blanket like the rest of their cage. So, any ideas about making her more comfortable?

3) Whenever the girl (sorry about the he/she- I haven’t named them yet..) is up on the second floor alone or whenever the boy goes up there and leaves her alone downstairs, she weeks sooooo loudly! I understand that she likes his company and everything but, I’m not understanding why she screams every time he is not within a foot of her.. Any ideas?

The whole reason I have the top level is to keep their cage fairly clean. I can clean the kitchen area every other day and clean the downstairs once a week. So, taking the second level down is NOT an option. It you have any advice/ideas pleeease lemme know. Thanks :D
BTW- I found some names I really like, tell me what you think.. The boy is a Abby who is brown and white and light brown/orange. I was thinking Xavier (meaning bright/splendid) for him..
And for the girl- she is mostly black with a mohawk and a white stripe and a small brown/orange spot on one side. I was thinking Ofelia (meaning help-since she is always crying lol).

New Guinea Pig.need tips on taming, food, etc?

Okay I bought a female guinea pig from Petsmart yesterday. Shes very scatty, and we didn’t notice this but her cage had a hole in the side. (Missing a bar) She escaped last night and made me run around the room to catch her lol. (Wasn’t fun, probably didn’t help with taming) But she’ll let me pet her, but when I go to pick her up, she’ll run around the cage like a maniac. She is a sweet guinea pig. I’ve given her a carrot and she smelled it but ran away. Later when I took my hand out, she tore it apart.

I know guinea pigs need a LOT of vitamin C, already have that covered. (Petsmart offered these yougurt drops that are high in vitamin c. She loves them)

How can I tame her?

Any other tips I should know?

I used to have a guinea pig when I was little, lived 12 years. I was only like 14 when it died.

Thank you!

Why is my guinea pig squeling so much?

I just got a new girl guinea pig and I already have another piggy who is a male. There cages are stacked on each other. Pippy, the new girl, keeps on squealing like mad! Last night they were both squealing which I assumed they were talking to each other, but now Pippy is just squealing. Is there something wrong with Pippy, or does she just want Chippy(male guinea) to talk to her?

I just got a new guinea pig today and I discovered that he has an extra toe on one of his hind legs?

He has four toes on both his front feet, three on one of his back ones, and four on the other back one. The toe seems swollen and smaller than the others. It also does not really seem like it’s attached, but more so just hanging on by skin. I’m pretty concerned. What should I do.

Help me name my new guinea pig?

I just got my guinea pig Jeffrey a new friend. A week ago. I still can’t find a name that I feel really fits. He has a brown face, white torso, another brown stripe, and a dark agouti/brown tail end. He has one Abyssinian sworl on the top of his head. Cute, right? Here are some photos:

I want a name for him that’s either silly or unique or maybe both? Maybe something that goes with Jeffrey?

Thanks!

New Guinea Pig. HELP?

I just bought a male guinea pig. He is calm when I hold him, and he looks healthy. But when I put him in his cage (it was the recommended one at the pet store) he stays in one spot and doesn’t move. He hasn’t eaten, or drank, or went to the bathroom. Is he just scared? He runs around when I let him play on the floor of my living room, so I know he can walk fine. Please help,
