Guinea Pig or hamster?

I posted another question about guinea pigs yesterday getting some info on them. Now that im doing a bit of research on the little critters I wonder if a hamster wouldn’t be better? I had hamsters when I was a kid and never got bitten but the web says they are nippy and not as social as guinea pigs - is that true? If we got a young hamster, handled and played with it a lot would it be fine with the kids (11 and 9, very careful, calm kids).
Guinea pigs just seem more “sturdy†I suppose but I enjoyed my hamsters while I was a kid. I am also concerned that hamsters only live up to 24 months (the internet says). Seems like the kids would be so sad if the pet only lived that long.
Any opinions on Guinea Pigs vs. Hamsters?

are guinea pigs happier with roomies or by themselves?

im thinking about getting one (or two) guinea pigs, but ive never had one before and i was wondering: is it hard to take care of guinea pigs if you havent taken care of one before? and also, are they happier by themselves, like hamsters, or do they like to have a buddy to room with?

Should I get a rat or guinea pig?

I’m getting another small animal in a few weeks, and I can’t decide between a guinea pig or rat. I am experienced with rats but would be a first-time guinea pig owner. (In the past I’ve had a rat and two hamsters.) Please help! Give me a compelling reason for one of them

I’ve had several hamsters in the past and only two guinea pigs last year…My guinea pig sadly died at only a couple month old because i think this disease got to them and killed both of them…Their eyes were gunky and everything else was not right about them…I want another small pet right now but i’m trying to chose between a hamster or guinea pig? Can someone please help me! this is an easy 10 points!!

Guinie Pigs, Gerbils, or Hamsters?

For my birthday, im thinking of getting a pet Gerbil, Guinie Pig, or Hamster. But I cant decide which of the three to get. So I need help deciding which kind between looks, life, price, requirements, and which is more loveable, playful, and cuddly. They all look very cute, but I personally cant decide which looks better and is more popular. Any help and answers will be appreciated. Thank you.

Can I keep my Polish Dwarf with a Guinea pig?

A couple of years age I had a guinea pig, and I want to get another one. The thing is, I have several rabbits, including a polish dwarf. (He has his own cage because the other rabbits poo bigger than him) I was wondering if I could put a guinea pig in with him. They could be fed seperately, and My baby weighs less than 2 pounds and has never shown any agression toward my friends pigs, my other rabbits, or my hamsters. What do you think?

Well, i like smallish, cute, and furry pets such as guinea pigs. I also hear they have to bathe so i enjoy bathing small animals. I know hamsters sleep all day and aren’t as fun, so here are some questions…Are they hard to take care of? Do they sleep when we sleep? Is it fun to take care of them?
