Guinea pig question?

I just bought my 9 yr old a papillon dog, and it turns out I don’t think we can keep the dog for various reasons. I feel so very bad for my daughter and promised her we could get a guinea pig if she wants. She wants a pet that will play and let her hold. We haven’t had the dog quite long enough to get attached yet, but I’m still afraid it will break her heart if its replaced with something thats not as interesting. Any information I can get about them I’d appreciate because I don’t want to make another mistake. Also, is there any differences between the male and females as far as affection goes? Please, ANY info will help me. So far I’ve been able to read on the net about the cage and the hay, so that’s the only info I have so far.
Also, we have an indoor/outdoor cat that does not easily welcome other animals. She won’t hurt the dog, but in your opinion how likely is it that a cat would see a guinea as a rat?

and think that it takes too long to grow animals and crops for food why don’t we just genetically engineer the meat & the crops. Note: not the animal, they wont exist in these labs, just a big strip of pork made from pig DNA for example, rather than a actual pig. this way it can get bigger and healthier without ever having to kill a live pig. just a big strip of pork. and same for the crops. this would allow more room for wild animal habitat and other things, so why don’t we do this?

How do you introduce two male guinea pigs properly?
Why does my guinea pig run away from me when i try to pick him up, but is okay when he’s finally out of the cage.
how do you make a bought wired cage bigger.
How do you make guinea pig toys?
Any info would be gladly appreciated?
I’ve found some info in introducing guinea pigs but it wasn’t helpful. They say tow males adults can’t and won’t get along is that true. Is it to late to introduce them, their 1 and 2
What fruiGuinead veggies do they usually enjoy.
Web sites would be greatly help full, and personal experiences.

Did they just leave it on a shrine to rot?
Did somebody take it home and eat it for dinner and clean the skin for later?
Who got stuck giving up his livestock animal for sacrifice?
Did the rich take turns forfeiting their property?
Or were poor people with only one animal forced to give it up too?

I didnt understand the last 2 paragraphs of this novel. It was stated that there was a quarrel over a card game and the animals outside couldnt tell a mans face from a pigs. can someone expand on this to try to help me comprehend? thanks =]

In farms (factory farms to be exact), why do they castrate animals, such as pigs and bulls? I know they don’t use any anesthetics, but i want to know WHY they actually go about cutting off the testes…

2. i wouldn’t be able to afford separate foods for me like tofu, etc.
3. what am i supposed to do on thanksgiving? i like the taste of turkey and chicken but i **** the cruelty they go through, so this is going to be tough.
4. what about organic meat? are organically-raised livestock treated as badly as normal animals used for food?

Ok, so I’m doing this research paper on whatever subject you want and I chose to do the effects from livestock mistreatment. I saw this on tv and it was like bad living conditions for animals used for food can cause certain diseases in humans. It was for a proposition in California. But I’m not sure what exactly this topic could be called. Like when I research it on different websites and things like that. Please help?
