Should i get a Guinea Pig or a hamster?
September 10th, 2008 Posted by: admin
I’ve had several hamsters in the past and only two guinea pigs last year…My guinea pig sadly died at only a couple month old because i think this disease got to them and killed both of them…Their eyes were gunky and everything else was not right about them…I want another small pet right now but i’m trying to chose between a hamster or guinea pig? Can someone please help me! this is an easy 10 points!!

I’d personally get a guinea pig. They’re alot more friendly and loving. Hamsters (in my opinion) don’t really bond with you properly. Guinea pigs are great for cuddling too! & They’re really gentle

did your previous g pigs die because u didnt do enough for them or see a vet earlyt enough?
guinea pigs live up to 5-8 yrs - but hamsters only 18-24 m. so gpig is a better pet to have, to avoid sadness after such short life.
also, gpigs are active in daytime, unlike hamsters, who sleep most of the day.
gd luck

guinea pigs don’t do anything. i like them but they just sit in cages and smell. and make weird noises. plus they DO get weird diseases all the time (a friend of mine had a guinea pig whose eyeball fell out).
get a hamster. they run around in those little hamster balls and they’re way cool.

go Guinea Pig because when you wake up a hamster cuz you want to play with it, it will be surprised and bite you like there is NO TOMORROW!!! You have to shake it to get the hamster off, also hamsters aren’t the friendliest pet in the world

i had the same problem i went with the guinea pig and it was so worth it they sit on your lap and just want love but hamsters are a little more hiper and you have to wAtch there every move.
any way good luck!!!

No pet is better than the other naturally.
Read up on them and think which is better for YOUR lifestyle?
Limited space? Get a Hamster.
Love to cuddle? Get a Guinea Pig.

GUINEA PIG! One thing you should know is that the second you see anything wrong with your pig you should take it to the vet. Most of the time you don’t realize they are sick untill the disease is spead, that is because in the wild they don’t want preaditors to know! So they hide there symtoms. The reseon I say guinea pigs is beacuse they live longer and are filled with personality. It is a little more expensive, but it’s worth it. Good luck with whatever you shoose!

Guinea pig they are much more social plus their not nocturnal like hamster,so if you ever want to play with them then you dont have to worry about waking them up…you can easily make toys for them out of house hold items…their not nippy like most hamsters tend to be, you dont have to chose through millions of cages like hamsters, you can build your own, they can eat alot of stuff thats in your fridge(parsley, romain lettuse, carrots, apples, grapes, oranges, bannanas, strawberries)
its best to get 2 to keep them company, you can take them for walks in the summer….
ect eCt, ECT!!!!

My hamster used to keep me up all night running around her cage so I would not ger one of them, yes there cute and all but I much perfer guinea pigs. I find them to be calmer, more friendly, cleaner and there cages dont smell as bad. They also sleep at night and live much longer. Hope that helps

Guinea pig - Need to give them exersice everyday
Get 2 guinea pigs (so not lonley)
Easy to handle and wont bite as often as a hamster
Give them lots of attentions and love
Life span - 3 years - 7 years
Hamster- Only get one because they fight together
Bite sometimes and sometimes squirmy
Life span - 1 year - 3 years
Nocturnal
I think guinea pig is the best because they live longer, there more fun to play with, they make these cute noises, and not that hard to handle, and there awake at daytime not like hamsters are awake at night

It depends on how much time you have to spend with them. Hams are noctournal, and sleep A LOT, so they dont care if you’re gone ten hours a day, or not. On the other hand, Guinea Pigs need daily attention, not only from their own kind, but from their pet parents as well.
